How to create a website

Creating website is not a difficult task for the person who is aware of web technologies. But it is little difficult for non technical guy (not aware of web technologies).

Not a problem, I will help you to develop your website without any requirement of technical skills. Before we start with the development of your site, Lets check the requirement for development of site.

Registering domain:

Registering domain means registering your website name. For e.g. www.abc.com. Select your domain, see that domain name is related to your business/orgainisation or profession. Check the availability. See that it is not register with anyone else. You can check the availability of your domain here. Once you register your domain, you need to host it on the web server. It takes approximately 48 hrs to register the domain. you can search and register your domain from here

Hosting:

Hosting of the website means setting the location of the physical html files on the server, from where it is browse. You have to purchase web space on web server to save your files. It costs few dollars for some MB (The charges are annually). Registered domain is pointed to your Web servers. This process is done by vendor from where you purchase web space.

Once everything is set you are ready to upload your files. Uploading of the files can be done by the FTP (File Transfer Protocol) details (username, password) provided by your vendor. It can be done by the control panel of the website or by the software available online. Cute ftp, filezilla are the softwares use to transfer file on web server.

Creating html files:

When we put domain name, for e.g. www.abc.com in browser it searches the physical html file on the server. It search only specific name of the file to load like index.html and main.html. First loading page should be any of the names given. But should not use both the names. The server will get confuse which to load first.

We will take index.html as our first loading page (home page). For creating index.html page we need text editor. Designers and developers recommend Dreamweaver software for html editing. You can get it online.

It is easy to use and non technical guy can create html with some help available, or you can also see the templates available. Start with any of the template you like. Save the template with the name index.html, add contents and images as you want. Once you are done with all the things, upload all the files to sever and your site is live.
